Missed Orientation? You Can Still Register for Classes

Hello Gators! If you were unable to attend an Orientation Session, please review the following resources to help you prepare for your first semester at SF State. If you have any questions regarding academics or campus life, please reach out to the Student Activities Office and we'll point you in the right direction.

Welcome to SFSU! There is still time to register for classes, and we are here to help. To get started, please follow the steps below. If you run into any issues, reach out to advising (see Step C below).

Step A: Review the pre-orientation section on the SFSU: Your First-Year Guide

You can access this guide by logging in to Canvas first and then enrolling in the SFSU: Your First-Year Guide. Once you select the SFSU: Your First-Year Guide, review the brief START HERE! PRE ORIENTATION section to learn about requirements and first-semester course recommendations.

Step B: Use Gator Scheduler to Enroll in Classes

Follow the Guide to Gator Scheduler and register for classes.

Step C: If Needed, Seek Academic Advising Support

If you need assistance, please connect with your designated advising location - Undergraduate Advising Center (UAC) or Educational Opportunity and Pathway Programs (EOPP). Check your SFSU email for a message from the UAC or EOPP as it contains a link for making an appointment with an academic counselor.

*If you have not yet accessed your SFSU email, click here for instructions to set up your SFSU email account and multi-factor authentication.

If you encounter difficulties making an appointment, call the UAC at 415-338-2101 or EOPP (if you are an EOPP student) at 415-338-1085. Let the front desk staff know that you missed orientation and are an incoming freshman who needs assistance with registering for your first semester. Go Gators!

If you are a Transfer Student and missed Orientation, then you will want to follow these steps below to get registered for your courses.

  1. Review your Orientation Profile Academic Advising Module

The Modules will walk you through where to find courses, how to register, transfer advising tools, and other useful resources.

  2. Review your Degree Roadmap

Use this link to be taken to the SF State bulletin page, find your degree and use the roadmap as a framework for courses and requirements you may still need to satisfy.

  3. Enroll in Classes. Use the How To Enroll Guide for more information.

If you are unable to attend Orientation, you will be given a separate registration date that will correspond with the completion of the final Orientation Session. You may enroll in courses beginning on that day.

  4. Connect with advising.

    1. If you are experiencing any challenges or are unsure if courses transferred over you may need help from advising.

    2. Check your SF State email for a message from Advising that provides information on how you can access registration support. This message will be sent after the final transfer orientation session of the season.

    3. Contact the Undergraduate Advising Center if you do not see an email from advising or if you need help.

* Due to large volumes of students needing assistance with registering for courses, academic advising appointments may be limited. Consider accessing drop-in advising hours if you cannot make an appointment. Go to the Undergraduate Advising Center's website for more information.
